La Societa della Civetta develops theatre for young audiences in ways that transcend language. Effective and simple actions invite the children to listen to the water, whether it flows in all its abundance or is gathered drop by drop. ‘Droplets’ is a performance of few words, where the actors interact with the audience through a game of glances, sounds, and actions which take the audience through a humorous and delicate journey. Funny and engaging, the young audiences will wonder at moments such as the thirsty camel waiting for a cloud and the moment of joy when the rain finally falls.

The South Tipperary Arts Centre is delighted to present Ireland’s leading children’s theatre company Little Red Kettle. Little Red Kettle has been performing their acclaimed interactive, participatory plays in Waterford and Kilkenny for over ten years. Their unique plays are written especially for children and involve audience participation. The aim of Little Red Kettle is to introduce children to theatre in ways that will encourage their own creativity and imagination. Children are encouraged to become a part of the play, guided by the actors to play almost all of the characters, the props, and sometimes the furniture. Even the shyest children can’t help joining in!
Visual Art
‘SCRATCH!’ A Graffitti Awareness Exhibition with Graffitti Artist MAGIC
3rd – 19th October
‘SCRATCH’ is a unique graffiti awareness exhibition in the Main Gallery of the South Tipperary Arts Centre that incorporates the art of young people with a commissioned mural by established graffiti artist MAGIC (Maciek Chesiak). The exhibition illuminates the nature of graffiti and explores questions raised in the art vs. vandalism debate: When is graffitti art? When is graffiti a crime? Why to people engage in graffiti?
Graffiti Artist MAGIC (Maciek Chesiak) was commissioned to create a unique graffiti art exhibition in the Main Gallery. In addition, teen participants from the local C.Y.T.E. community training centre discussed, debated, and researched the issues and impetuses behind the issue of graffiti. The creative results of these workshops are exhibited as sculptures, images, and photographs in the Main Gallery alongside the commissioned work.
In conjunction with the ‘SCRATCH!’ exhibition, the South Tipperary Arts Centre has developed a graffiti-awareness gallery education programme designed for secondary school students that further explores the meanings and functions of graffiti in a modern context. In addition to a tour and gallery talk, the gallery education programme will allow young people to examine graffiti in all its forms. Through structured workshops and discussions, participants will develop their own artwork in response to the exhibition.

This flag installation will display flags created during workshops that involved creating not only individual country flags, but that encouraged cross-cultural collaboration to create a new flag that represents all of the participants, their individual cultures, and the culture of their new home in Ireland. The ‘UNITY’ flag installation will be displayed on the exterior flag poles of the Arts Centre.
